About
About BUGLE
BUGLE is an independent blog covering society, civil rights, politics, and social issues — with a particular focus on Northeast India, human rights, and the stories that mainstream Indian media underreports.
Why This Blog Exists
BUGLE began as a personal blog in 2010, when the author started writing about the things that weren't getting enough attention — Irom Sharmila's extraordinary hunger strike against AFSPA, the political currents shaping Nepal and the Northeast, and the quiet social stories that don't make national headlines.
After a long hiatus, BUGLE returned in 2026 — because the issues it was created to cover have not been resolved. AFSPA still governs Northeast India. The Manipur crisis still has no resolution. The same structural questions about how India treats its margins remain unanswered. The blog exists to keep asking them.
Editorial Approach
Every post on BUGLE is written from the perspective of a curious, informed bystander — someone with no institutional affiliation, no political agenda, and no obligation to anyone except the accuracy of the record. Where opinion is offered, it is clearly marked as such. Where facts are cited, they are sourced.
BUGLE does not publish sponsored content. Any advertising displayed through Google AdSense is served automatically based on reader interest and is not editorial content. You can read the full Privacy Policy for details on how advertising and data work on this blog.
The Name
A bugle is a signal instrument. No keys, no valves — just a clear, direct call. That is what this blog tries to be: a clear signal on stories that deserve more attention than they get.
